The blog has been running (without any activity worth mentioning) for a couple of months now, and I could never figure out why Google wouldn’t index my blog. I even builth up a couple of PR 6 and PR 7 inbound links, but Google still would’nt index the damn blog. Desperate for advice, I seeked information from a friend of mine asking for advice. The first respons was of course that I shouldn’t expect Google to index it the day I launced. Then I had to tell him that I launched the blog and started sending crawlers too it months ago. And then the final answer came:
- “Maybe you have edited your robots.txt?”
No, of course I haven’t blocked the might Google crawlers out. Why would I do that? But hey, it doesn’t kill me to take a look. And to my big surprise, robots.txt where blocking all search engine crawlers from indexing my site. So I jumped straight into my Wordpress admin panel, and after a little looking around I found a setting that blocked the mighty Google out. Why the hell was this on?
Anyway, I just got my first pages indexed today. About time.
